Peach Jamboree

This past weekend we took a trip back to the hill country to spend some time with the precious Prehn family and experience the Stonewall Peach Jamboree as a family. I have been going to this Jamboree since I was a little girl but it was so much fun to get to do this together with Matt and Arabelle.

The same summer that Alli and I were roommates Matt and I began dating. It was during the peach weekend that we took a girls weekend road-trip that stands to be one of the greatest weekends of my life. It had a little bit of everything in it for me, new friendships creating life long memories, healing from my past, new love, and some serious fun. Now five years later I got to go back with that boy I had just started dating and we have been married for four years and have a one year old bundle of Joy. God is so good to me.

And then this weekend was just as full of fun, adventure and special memories. I felt like a kid again as I got to ride a horse across the beautiful hill country. Oh, how I miss saddling up whenever I please.

Of course we went to the Rodeo. Didn't think to get better pictures but here is what we have.

We couldn't go to the hill country and not dip our feet in the water. Oh....I miss this too! Never thought I would miss living in that area but weekends like this make me want to go back.

I got to pick a ton of peaches...I mean seriously, I had to leave thousands and thousands behind for the birds. Alli's family owns a peach orchard and this years crop is so good that there isn't a market for #2,#3 peaches because they are smaller than this years #1. So because of that there were tons of peaches on the ground waiting to be eaten by the birds or get saved by a little birdie named Robyn. Six cases is what would fit in the car so six cases is what we brought home.

The one on the left is considered a #1, middle #2, left #3.

Now I have been busy cutting, canning, preserving and freezing all of these peaches. I do believe that if next years crop is bad I have them covered.

If anybody wants a post on canning, making jelly and how to store all of these peaches let me know.

  1. such wonderful memories! Can't wait to do it all again next year!

  2. Would love to have the canning info...and some of the goods. I bet they're delicious over BlueBell vanilla!

  3. I would love to have info on canning! I have thought about canning, but have no clue were to start!

  4. I'd love info on canning - we love fresh fruits and veggies and it would be great to have them all year 'round!
