We were flocked this weekend. I have never really heard of this but I have seen flamingo's in peoples yards before and just thought they had an interesting flair when it comes to yard decor. Apparently this is the thing to do to earn fundraiser support. Someone pays to sends a message with a flock of flamingo's and then you pay to send it to someone else. We have some friends who just put their adorable house on the market and I thought of sending it their way to get some attention and then I thought it might not bring the curb appeal they are looking for.
Anyways, it was fun to walk outside and see these crazy pink birds in our lawn...Arabelle loved them!
We started off with a trip to Frost to see Nonnie and Pawpaw. Arabelle needed to talk to Pawpaw to let him know that Mom and Dad are "trying" their hand at a garden but not to think for one second that we wont need his garden goods.
Matt is always telling me stories about his childhood out in the country and living on the dairy. I had this image in my mind but really wanted to see it for myself. We ventured out through his old stompin grounds and went by the dairy, where their house had been, where his Dad's childhood home had been and saw his Uncle Kevin out by the farm.
Then we had to go to Collin Street Bakery and get Matt's favorite cookies. And because we were so close to the Chocolate Factory we decided to stop there too.
We drove back home to Brenham. Arabelle was tired.
Then we were off to Fredericksburg.
As we were driving in we stopped at the Wildflower farm to look at the fields of dirt where all the pretty flowers will soon be.
Then we ate lunch at Rather Sweet. Arabelle enjoyed being outside by the water fountain and we enjoyed our delicious food. If your ever in the area this place is a must!
Later we settled into our B&B so that Arabelle could take a nap, once she woke up we went for a walk and found a park. They didn't have the bucket swings so Arabelle got to play in the dirt for the first time. She didn't dig it so much, the texture seemed too hard for her delicate skin.
Arabelle was loving time with her Daddy!
Baby girl got sick and was up all night coughing the first night there so we decided to cut the trip short. We quickly drove by Enchanted Rock, Trade Days and Circle E Candle Factory....all things we were going to do and will go next time we go and little Belle is feeling better.
We had so much fun and can't wait for the summer. Look at the peach blossoms....I can taste the peach jamboree already.
We are loving our little girl and all of this personality that is shining through her each day.
She loves being outside like her mommy. We go to the park every day and on the days that we have leftover bread we go and feed the ducks. The other day we joined some friends for a picnic and Arabelle got to swing on the big girl swing. She loved it!
She enjoys sitting and watching VeggieTales...for about 10 minutes. But those 10 minutes are filled with laughter and hand slapping fun. I'm sure she would watch longer but she gets that tv eyes glazed over look.
She loves loves loves hiding under her bed, playing under her bed, and taking toys under her bed. It's so cute. I can't wait for the day she wants sheet tents throughout the house.
So...I have been planning on making things to start and etsy store for a long time. There have been a few things keeping me from really committing and getting started. I have been waiting for a craft room.
It's almost done as in maybe the next few days but here is how it started. This is embarrassing but it's what happens when you have a room that nobody walks by. Before we started working on making this the craft room I noticed we didn't have a junk drawer in our kitchen. I thought to myself that everybody needs a junk drawer and then it dawned on me...oh yeah...we have an entire junk room!!!
Another reason is that I want to make sure that all things I create are of high quality. I don't want things to fall apart or unravel at the seams so....I got a serger. This machine is some kind of scary!
I tremble at the thought of threading it.
With many lessons from youtube and my mother-in-law via skype I plan to have this thing down soon enough.
I thought I would make things for Arabelle first and see how they hold up. This outfit was made last night so it is not perfect. I was just so ready to make ruffles I could hardly stand it.
Speaking of ruffles...did you know that you can make ruffles by sewing a straight seam with a long stitch and just pull the bobbin thread???? Here I have been using a ruffle presser foot that has nearly ruffled my fingers it's so spastic and crazy. All this time it was as easy as sending it through the machine and gathering the bobbin stitch.
I am planning on taking a few lessons on sewing over the next few weeks so hopefully I will learn more tricks or the trade. I am self-taught which means I sometimes make a huge mess and don't really know what I'm doing. I hope to learn more and help others along the way.
