Look who's walking!!

I can't believe my very eyes! I can hardly wrap my mind around hearing little footsteps throughout our home but it seems as though the time has come.

Here are some of the first steps....

Lately

Here are some things that have been going down at the Farmer home.

Arabelle went swimming for the first time, she wasn't a fan at first but enjoyed it the next day. She likes swimming even better if it means she gets to take her bath outside.

Our garden is finally taking off and I'm loving it. The tomatoes are doing great and if all goes well we will be eating them all summer. The potatoes are almost ready to come out of the ground and Matt might be the one digging deep for those.

We re-did the main bathroom. A friend of a friend was changing her bathroom and was getting rid of this shower curtain when I emailed her and asked her if she wouldn't mind sending it my way. When I hung it up I was surprised to find that it was a good 12 inches from the floor, unlike my other curtain that fit perfectly. So I rummaged through my stuff and found a linen tablecloth I got at a yard sale.It had perfect detailing so I used the edges to make the ruffles. I ruffled two 6" inch layers and attached them to the bottom and now have a perfect "new to me" shower curtain in our bathroom. I love turning another persons trash into a treasure!

Old

New

I have a helper in the kitchen and just about everywhere I go.

I learned how to make a slipcover!!! Who new this was possible?? I found this blog and was inspired to try it for myself. Had I known how to do this last year we wouldn't have thrown away our super huge comfy couch. I miss that couch so much....oh well.
I found this ottoman at the mission for a few bucks and with a little white denim, thread, needles, serging, and sewing and it looks as good as new.

Before

After

My next project is a glider/rocker I found at the mission. I saw this picture on a blog and thought it had the same bones...well see if I can make it happen.

I work on my projects while my sweet girl is doing this. I love sneaking in and looking at her. Even though we have a video monitor I still have to go in there and look at her for myself. I just love it!

I better get back to more fun stuff like this...

Arabelle mY BiG One YeaR Old

Where has the time gone. I cannot believe that we are celebrating the first year of your life already! It's just as everyone said,it feels like you have always been in our lives but at the same time like we just brought you home from the hospital.

This has been the most precious year of my life. Watching you grow each day and show us your sweet little personality has been the greatest Joy of my life. Nothing comes close.

You are turning into such a big girl right before our very eyes. On your actual Birthday you got your very own big girl chair and there's no hiding that your not a little baby anymore. You sit in your chair all day long just as content as could be.

On May 8th you got your first tooth...just in time to eat your Birthday cake!

On May 20, 2010 you got up out of your chair and walked over to me all by yourself!!! I couldn't believe it! I was so thankful both your Daddy and I were sitting right there with you. You went back to your chair and did the same thing except you walked right into Daddy's arms. It's moments like these that make us feel so special. You show us love, tenderness, affection, laughter and kindness.

I pray over you daily Arabelle. I pray that you would fall in love with Jesus at an early age and you would desire his will for your life. I pray that through your life others would see the love of Christ.

You are Joy.......pure Joy!

Love,

Mommy & Daddy

Blessed to be Mommy

Today I celebrate one of the greatest gifts one could have and that is to be a mother. I am so blessed to hear the sweet words "ma ma" come out of Arabelle's mouth all day long. I love the way she clings to my neck when she doesn't want me to let go. I love the way she kisses my face. I love the way she crawls in my lap when we're playing together on the floor. I love the way I can feel her love for me.

I'm so thankful to Jesus he chose me to be a mother. It is a role I know I was designed for and desired to fulfill my entire life. When I was a little girl I would spend hours building forts and making it a home for my little family and now my dreams are lived out every day in this little home of ours in Brenham, Texas. Beginning at 7:15 every morning and ending at 8:00 pm every night I feed, play, laugh, love, teach, nurture, care, pray, soothe and discipline. The Lord has taught me so much about himself to me as a parent. I understand the love of Christ. I comprehend his sacrifice and at the same time I don't understand his sacrifice. The love I have for my husband is unexplainable, as a mother there is no better sight than to see your husband as a Daddy to your baby. My life has so much life to it now. I was created to be called Mommy.

Two of the most beautiful moments in my life.
