Baby Update 7 months

I can't believe I'm entering the 7th month already. In a way it seems like this pregnancy has flown by and at the same time I feel like this little one has been with us for a long time.

We still don't have a name but we have a few in mind. Were thinking we will wait until we meet him to name him.
I get so excited telling Arabelle about her little brother. The more I think about it the more it sets in that this is her little brother....for the rest of her life this will always be her little brother. There's something so beautiful about that.

I'm craving pineapple anything and everything.
I still find myself sleeping on my stomach. Not sure how but I am.
This little one is moving all the time. It's not painful yet but it does cause me to lose some sleep.
Matt's manly nesting is in full force, yesterday started with him making the bed, then he raked the leaves, mowed the lawn, painted the crib, scrubbed the bath tub and unloaded the dishwasher. He did all of this without my request. What a man!

The nursery is coming together slowly and I should have the bedding done by the end of this week.
Next I'll be figuring out a creative way to mask all of the pink that he will be using. Poor thing....when a sister comes first everything is pink so rather than starting all over with everything were going to make due with what we have. Of course I'm not going to make due with clothes....he will be getting his own clothes.

Precious one we can't wait to meet you. We pray for you daily and know you are a precious gift from the Lord.

Random

I never got around to taking a picture of myself this week. Oh well. It's harder than one would think.

I went to the doctor yesterday and got to hear the heartbeat....the most beautiful sound in the world.

I also took my glucose test so now I'm just anxiously awaiting the results. I'm praying it comes back perfect...because I just bought two boxes of these.

When I was pregnant with Little Miss I craved straight up meat and potato's and this poor little guy is being formed out of pure sugar. I just can't help myself. Next on my cravings list are these muffins.

I started working on the bedding today, that is until my sweet girl woke up from her nap early with a fever.

Once I finish making the bedding I'll be working on a ring pillow for my dear friend Alli's upcoming wedding. I'm thinking a mesh of the two of these ideas.  Whatcha think?

I'll also be making over 120 jars of peach jelly for this wedding. If anybody wants a lesson on canning and jelly making in the near future then I'm your girl. Give me a holler and you too can be a part of this adventure. I'll pay you in jelly.

The jelly will be the guest gift at the wedding. Her Daddy has a peach orchard that we collected hundreds of pounds of peaches from this summer with this idea in mind.

I know I need to focus on the nursery but of course my mind has already skipped ahead to the next project which is LM big girl room. There's a certain somebody in our home that might be asked to make this for her big girl room and in time for her second Birthday.

When I was a little girl I had a swing suspended from my ceiling and hanging in my room. My Dad is unconventional and cool like that.
Someday I want to relive that.

How's that for random? Hope everybody has a wonderful weekend.

New Life

Monday Little Miss and I ran out to our friends farm to pick up milk. I always love going out there to show Arabelle the real animals that we read about and make the noises of all during the day. She loves making animal noises...just loves it. For Christmas she got a pig pillow and ever since it has been one of her favorite noises to make. When I heard there were piglets born last week I was so excited for her to see them.

Brace yourself for some serious cuteness!

During a season of nasty weather and brown landscape it's so refreshing to see new life come to this earth. It makes me anxious for all of these babies to get here. In fact these piglets are going to be just two weeks older than the next farm girl. Can't wait!

Nesting part 4 { Changing Table/Dresser}

I just love the idea of something that has many functions to it. I'm looking forward to using this dresser as a diaper changing station/ "hurry up he had a blowout and I need you to grab that onesie out of the top drawer station."

I found this piece at the mission this summer before I found out I was pregnant. I went ahead and bought it because a.)I'm kinda a hoarder and b.) I knew it would get put to use sooner rather than later.

And of course because it was a good deal...but isn't that always a hoarders reasoning.

Here it is before:

Here it is after my nesting mode got a hold of it:

Nesting Part 3 {Nursery for Little Boy Blue}

The last two weeks have been fairly  productive on the nursery front. I have so much stuff that needs to be painted and worked on outside so I've been somewhat limited by this fickle weather. As soon as that sun breaks through I put on my work clothes and head out.

On the nasty days I do things like repaint the room the same color it was. Yeah...you heard correct. I bought sample after sample of green tone paints, would put it up on the wall and find that it just didn't feel right. I had in my head that his room was going to be light green and white with rusty red accents and I just never found any fabric that fit the image in my head.

Last week my friend Veronica took me to High Fashion in Houston to look for fabric. Wholly smackers that place has like 6 floors of fabric! I knew if I didn't find what  I had in my head...that it just plain ol' didn't exist. So as I was cruising through row after row of fabric I noticed I was consistently drawn in by blue's. I found the fabric that worked with my price range....made the commitment right then and there and got my fabric for the bedding.

So I bring the fabric home...take it into the nursery and would you believe that the blue in the fabric was a perfect match to what I already had on the walls?

Being that I had already painted samples all over each wall and we didn't have any of the original paint left OR the color chip of what it was my sweet husband cut out some of the drywall and took it to SW for a color match. We got a new gallon of the "old" paint, came home and painted the room all over again.

Now I'm just waiting on one last cut of fabric to get in town this week and then I'll start cranking out the bedding. I can't wait to see how it will turn out.

getting in front of the camera {friday} pj's

All I've got to say is this weather is yuck! I've never been so bothered by nasty weather until I had a little girl that adores being outside. It makes the day long and sometimes hard on both of us when were cooped up. I'm thankful to say yesterday wasn't one of those days. We made the most of this nasty weather by having a pajama day. We stayed in our pj's all day, watched a  movie and did a little crafting (aka play-dough time).

It was during nap time that I was filled with gratitude for my dear husband and all  he does so I can stay home and raise our family. There I was sitting in bed in my pj's, reading as long as nap time allowed while he was at work providing for our family. Everyday I'm thankful for the sacrifices we make as a family to make this calling happen but yesterday was one of those extra special, thankful, full heart days.

Of course not every day is a pj day. Some days are hands in the toilet water days. Four bad diapers in a row days. Did I even brush my teeth days. But today I'm thankful for having a restful pj day.

{Vintage Valentines Day Card {diy}}

Wow...that's a mouth full.

Last year was the first year that I actually got into Valentines Day. I think having a cute little sweetheart to put in a tutu had a hand in that :)

I enjoyed filling the house with pink, red and white and most of all I enjoyed doing sweet things for my family. You see, I have this problem with setting high expectations. I do this even on occasions I really don't care much about such as Valentines Day. It's like I'm waiting to get disappointed. So...having the focus taken off of me and what  my hopes are is a good thing.

Anyways....I got way off topic.

All that to say, I enjoy this silly little holiday now.
I also enjoy decorating and crafting on an extremely low budget. Last year I was looking on etsy for some vintage Valentines Day cards and realized 1. I didn't wan't to pay the amount asked, 2. I could make them myself for pennies.

So here it is.

Under Images in Google do a search for Vintage Valentines Day Cards. Here are just a few examples of what it will pull up.

If you don't have an abundance of old books you need to go out and get some, their great for craft projects. Take the inside page that's blank and cut it out with a blade or knife. Chapter pages can be used as well, all you need is one side to be blank.

Before I print it on the old paper I test the size of the image on plain printer paper.

Feed the old book paper into your printer.

Print...... and there you have it.

If you can't find any old books at your local thrift shop I'm sure you could use manila paper or tea stain cardstock to make it look old.

We got a new car

It's a little Fred Flinstone-ish.
Pink, purple and white in color and makes a little girl as happy as can be.
We got it earlier this week and let her play with it inside because of this yucky weather.
Today we got a little relief from the rain and hit the ground running.

We also experienced sidewalk chalk for the first time today. Arabelle had other things on her mind but I sure enjoyed it.

getting in front of the camera {friday} the Library

On Wednesdays Little Miss and I go to the local library for story time. When we started going in September she was only captivated by Ms. LuLu's singing and guitar playing but now she can make it through at least two books and songs. I think that's a huge accomplishment for a 20 month old.

Nesting Part 2

The kitchen window has needed some help for a while.
It was one of those things that was "temporary" while we finished other projects in the house.

2 years later.....

I finally got around to making it happen.

I'm pretty sure it fits us a lot better now.

I love my new light fixture! I had to search the Lowe's world over to find it but HERE it is.
