Summer Travels Part 2

Matt and I got to go on a date to the Ranger game. Like as in no other little mouths to feed....just the two of us. It was pretty nice.
Little Miss and Bubby stayed back with their four year old cousin while Nonnie and her good friend Linda watched  them. I got an update that Little Miss walked into the room naked as a jay bird with cousin A following behind explaining that she was trying to change her diaper and apparently a diaper change requires the removal of all clothing. I'm guessing Nonnie and Linda slept well that night.

Thank you again for watching our babies while we recharged a bit.

Summer Travels Part 1

We started out our little summer getaway with a trip to see Nonnie and Paw-paw. I'm so excited to report that this trip also included our first ever drive without Little Miss getting car sick. All it took was a DVD player with Elmo to keep her focus off of the road. When we pulled over the cattle guard and into the drive Little Miss got so excited and yelled, "Paw-paw" while I yelled with the same excitement, "Thank you Jesus!"

We got to help Paw-paw with some farm duties and Little Miss was in heaven. After the peas were shelled it was her duty to carry the shells for the chickens to eat and let me tell you she took her job VERY serious. She was as red as a beat as she shoveled the shells and carried them to the chickens but she wasn't going to stop until the job was done.

I love that she got to spend that time with her Paw-paw and experience the farm life. Now he's not just "Paw-paw" but rather, "Paw-paw-Shicken."

This little guy stayed indoors and out of the heat.

Home

We just got home from vacation last night. We have traveled A LOT, spent much needed time visiting friends and family, ate at restaurants to the point it longer felt like a treat, missed naps, stayed out late, slept in (thank you hotel blackout curtains), went on a date, marveled at God's creation, and looked at each other over and over again with gratitude for our precious little family. It took a lot of work and wasn't always easy but we wouldn't trade this crazy life for anything.

Now, I'm back to the real world and lots and lots of laundry. I will catch up...I can do it!

Memory Lane

This past week we were refreshed with the fellowship of our dear college friends. You know that saying, "you don't know a good thing till it's gone"? Well...that's this group for us. We knew we all meshed well and loved to spend time together but it wasn't until we all moved and went our separate ways that we missed each other dearly and realized that not everybody understands or "gets"  you the way your close friends do. When we tried to find friends after college it was just hard, we would leave many social gatherings feeling like we failed at convincing people to be our friends. I mean seriously, we would say to each other, "I mean were cool, right?"
You just can't replace those friends you make during your youthful years. Those are the years that your vulnerable, growing in your faith, maturing through hardships and have endless amounts of undistracted time to have fun and do absolutely nothing together.
So now that we're far apart from one another we cherish the times we do spend together, this summer being one of those special times we were all able to meet up.

Here are some pictures from the good  ol' days.

And here we are now all grown up with our precious children. God is good!

First Tea Party

The other day Little Miss hosted her first tea party for her special little friends. We've been playing with this set for almost a year now but this is the very first time I've happened upon her pretending and role playing without any encouragement. It was a proud Momma moment to watch her be a host and servant. Her little heart is just precious!

Family Session {Mousers}

Last week I had such a good time photographing this family with their new little four month old dimply bundle of joy. My husband works with Coach Mouser and it just so happens that he and I went to High School together. Being that we've known each other since the school days made it particularly special to capture these moments of them with their new little boy...who might I say looks just like his Daddy.

Here are just a few of my favorites!

If I base this child's future strictly off of photo props he's going to be one well rounded athlete!

{Three Months}

My not so little guy is three months + one week old already. When we went to his last checkup he weighed 14 lbs and 3 ounces. He's in the 90th percentile in both height and weight.

I feel like we have made it through the marathon that is the first three months of crazy baby life...it just seems to get better and better from this point on. Not that a newborn isn't the sweetest thing in the world but let's be honest it's hard.

At the beginning of last week he started sleeping in his own bedroom. I was hoping this would break up his habit of still eating every three hours throughout the night but so far he hasn't missed a meal.

He's getting a little bit better about soothing himself to sleep. He has no interest in a pacifier and I'm not seeing any progress on a thumb sucker so who knows what's to come.

He isn't spitting up anymore! So excited about this.

He started sitting in his Bumbo and exersaucer this week and doesn't really know what to think about it but he loves being able to look around at everything.

He's smiling more and more everyday and makes lots of "oohhs and ahhhs."

We love seeing his little personality come through!
