iphone dump

I need to catch up on my insta-friday pics so I thought I would just unload today. So this is a little bit of everything.

I love the silhouettes created on our patio in the evening sun.

We go hit up the sand volleyball court in the evenings to let the kids play in the sand. We're practicing for Florida. T-7 days!

Have you tried these? They are so yummy! They remind me of Johnny Carino's dipping sauce. You need to give them a try.

My boys playing in the river.

I sure do miss having horses in my life. I grew up riding, showing and  participating in trail rides. I have many great memories on horseback.

I got to see my sweet friend Kat. I love this girl to pieces. She has a heart for the Lord and has been such a source of encouragement for me.

I slipped away during nap time to hit up one of my favorite little fabric stores. I love dreaming of the projects  that could be done with all of this adorable fabric.

Have you ever had Carl's Jr. Burgers? I know their logo is kinda cheesy but it's one of the best fast food burgers I have ever had. I got mine with avocado and it was delicious.

It has finally hit the triple digits here. The triple digits make me want to do loopy things like put foil over my kids windows and keep all of the curtains drawn. Does anybody else foil windows or have a solution to blocking some of the sun/heat?

Sweet boy swinging at the park.

I have had peaches and granola for breakfast this past week and love it. I think I could eat this every day and ever grow tired of it. I'm working on the last few peaches so I'm going to have to move onto the next fresh fruit.

I did however put away some peaches for the fall and winter. There's nothing like opening a can of summer peaches in November to bring me right back to the taste and smell of summer.

We got a visit this week from one of my college roommates and Little Miss got to help feed her baby. She was in heave.

This little guy has been going crazy for some watermelon. When he sees me cutting it he pooches his lips and snorts to make this face. It's so cute!

This little one keeps me laughing in her "Jessie" cowgirl hat.

That about does it for this week! Do y'all have any fun plans? Are y'all celebrating the 4th this weekend or the next? I'm looking forward to fireworks this year since we didn't have them last year because of the drought. Hope y'all have a great weekend!

There's just something about the river

I grew up on the river. It was normal to me. School getting out early when a heavy rain was coming because of low water crossings. Late nights hanging out with friends on a tailgate by the dam. Swimming in the state park with friends. Checking trot-lines, fishing, canoeing, sunbathing and just being by the water. These were all things I loved and knew well. When I moved to college I didn't really think about leaving the water behind, mainly because I had always lived on the water and just assumed it would be wherever I went. It's been over ten years now and I still miss it; when I go back home for a visit the river is one of the first places I want to be. Lucky for us we got to spend each evening playing in the water. The kids loved the minnows tickling their toes. They loved throwing things in the water and watching them float past. They just loved being by the water. These are some of my favorite pictures of the kiddos. Maybe because I have similar ones with my sister. I couldn't choose a favorite so I'm just going to post them all.

Don't you just love the warm summer glow on the water? I'd love to hear other stories of those who have memories on the water or the hill country.

Hill Country Getaway

Hey Y'all! We just got back from a little getaway in the Texas Hill Country close to where I grew up. We had a blast living life on the farm and taking it easy. We made no plans and just enjoyed some down time. We stayed on my dear friends Dad's peach farm while he was out of town and enjoyed the pretend farm life. I grew up with horses, swimming in the river and picking peaches so it was nice to slip back into my childhood for a bit.
The kids absolutely loved every minute of our trip. In fact Little Miss thought we moved there because we were the only ones in the house, so when we pulled back in our driveway she began to cry and say she wanted to go back to our new house. Poor girl! At least we know she's not attached to our home or possessions.
I got to meet up with a dear friend and only got a picture on my iphone so I guess I will have to wait and post that on Insta-Friday. I also got to go into town for some antique shopping while the kids took their naps. I had planned on stopping by my favorite go-to restaurant while I was there only to find that it had completely shut down :( Such a bummer. They had the absolute BEST Carrot Cake!   At least I have the recipe to make it myself.
Everyday went a little something like this. Wake up and feed/play with the horses, pick a few peaches for breakfast, give the dogs some love, play on the trampoline, go into town for some fun, come home and take naps, dad stayed home while mom went out to play, come back and eat dinner, go play in the river until sunset, come home for some more trampoline jumping and then turn in for bed.  It was perfect.

I hope y'all are having a good day! I'm just finishing up some laundry, cleaning the car out and about to do our monthly budget while the kids are taking their naps. Oh...also, I'm wanting some new peach dessert recipes, do you have any to share?

Summer hairdo and Bubby walking

Little Miss is loving her new look and so am I. It's so easy to wash and comb. Who knew just two inches caused so much trouble? She no longer puts up a fight when I comb her hair and we don't even have to mess with putting it up anymore.Sigh of relief! I uploaded some pictures and realized I only shared on Instagram and needed to post real pics.

Have I mentioned that as of Saturday June 9th, this little boy has been officially on the move? No more army crawling. I absolutely love the short strides and wobble with the hands held out when he walks. I however do not love the fact that he is into everything. I thought he couldn't possibly get into more mischief but he has proved me wrong.

Here we are teaching him to sit in the chair rather than stand in it and flip it over.

At least all the walking helps him take a good long nap.

Little Miss is his angel. She has saved him from so many potential accidents and boo-boo's. I seriously don't know what I would do without her alerting me that he has climbed on top of the table, or is standing on the couch, jumping off of the bed and splashing in the toilet.

I hope y'all are having a good week.
