Barn House DIY
I'm blowing the dust off the old blog because I just have to share a fun diy I recently finished. You see we have had this doll house for several years and as cute as it was it just wasn't getting the use that it needed to justify the space it took up. So it sat in the garage until I could find someone who wanted it. It sat and sat. All the while each and every day the kids played barnyard animals for hours on end. I had a light bulb moment to turn that cute dollhouse into a barn!
I didn't take many pictures of the step by step process but in a nutshell I removed the door from the house and took it to Home Depot to get a piece of wood the same thickness cut to fit the size of the existing door. I then found thin trim pieces and cut them into the barnyard X. I found some cabinet hardware for the front hinges and a pull and put it all together! Because I was using a hand saw for the trim pieces it didn't match up perfectly, with a little putty and paint you would never know! On the inside I used mod podge and scrapbook paper sheets of dirt, straw hay and green grass for the different levels and barn siding scrapbook paper for the walls.

This was his big birthday surprise that was setup in his newly decorated room. He loved it all, but when I asked him what his favorite part was....he said, his cow knobs on his dresser. lol

Living Room {Before and After}
As many of you know we moved this summer and bought another fixer upper.
I will be honest and tell you that this one has been so trying in so
many ways. I won't get into all of the details but rest assured that the
pretty after pictures you will see in the coming weeks did not go down
like a happy and cute episode of hgtv Fixer Upper. It's been hard and I
am so thankful to be on the other side of the story to now show you the
place that we will call home. There are still many things that need to
be finished but I want to go ahead and start documenting our progress
and I can always show more pictures along the way.

In the living room we added a window to create more light and balance. I think it makes all the difference in the world! We also took out the carpet and added in wood flooring that matches the original wood floors throughout the rest of the house. The side you can't see in this shot will be saved for later because we are not finished with it but there was a wet bar that we took out and are still deciding what exactly to do with the space. We had planned to create a faux fireplace with space for a tv above but the budget didn't allow for it so we are going to need to get creative. In case anyone asks the paint is Revere Pewter at 25% and the trim is SW Pure White.

Our Home {tour}
This past year the Lord has been preparing my heart for something big
and something new. All year I have been nervous and excited in
anticipation of what that would mean for our family and this last week
we found out. Matt got offered his first head coaching position and we
couldn't be more excited about it. I am so thankful the Lord was so
gracious to prepare this heart of mine to be at peace about the whole
situation. We don't really have any of the housing details worked out
other than our current home going on the market in the next few days. I
sure am going to miss our first home and all the memories that we have
made here. It will always be a special place to me. Here are a few
before and after photos of our first fixer upper.
Hopefully I can add the other rooms later.
